---"It's not about losing weight; it's about gaining an Identity!!!"
We are a generation obsessed with losing weight. Over 75% of all Americans are on some kind of diet. So, we starve ourselves, over exercise and look for that magic pill. These only offer temporary results and are short term. We wind up giving in to hunger, giving up exercise and get heavier than ever before. This leads to self-sabotage, unhappiness and we are now on the path to the typical Yo-Yo dieting. This is a vicious circle, like being on a merry-go-round and never learning how to get off.
America has a fat problem, not a weight problem---the harder we try to lose weight the fatter we get. Over half the population is now over weight or obese and that is on the rise. This is primarily due to that fact that everyone is now always on the go and looking for convenience by getting their food the fastest way possible. Not too mention our sedentary lifestyles.
We all know that we should exercise and some people even know how to eat right so, why is everybody overweight? Until one discovers how to get off the merry-go-round,
they will continue to go round and round. So, where do we start? We must stop knowing and start doing! We must challenge ourselves and make a personal commitment to make our dreams become a reality. You are a winner the moment you have the desire to make things happen.
One must educate oneself, come up with specific goals and then make a plan of action---"If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."...Bill Philips. First, we must look at this as a lifestyle change not a diet. Learn to take this one-day at a time and never get discouraged. Eat smaller portions and get 5-6 nutritious meals per day. Drink 10-12 glasses of water per day. Design an exercise program that works for you. Keep a journal of your food and exercise progress. Sometimes, we may even need to detoxify our bodies. We need a focal point and positive affirmations help. Most importantly start treating ourselves like a first-class citizen and remember that every thing we do in this world is merely an external manifestation of what has already happened in ones mind. We must believe before we can achieve. Achieving your goals will allow you to feel so much better physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Not to mention how much healthier and happier you will become. Allowing yourself to become that person you always dreamed of; self-efficient, self-reliant and full of self-esteem. Therefore, it's not about losing weight---it's about gaining an identity.
